From August 30 to September 3, 2026, Ulm University hosted the 23rd European Conference on Eye Movements (ECEM 2026). With a history spanning more than four decades, ECEM is the largest scientific meeting on eye movement research worldwide, bringing together neurophysiology, psychology, medical sciences, linguistics, computer science, and applied research.
Our lab was represented by its head, Stanislav Popelka, who gave a talk on field research using eye-tracking glasses. The talk focused on how people use maps for orientation in real-world environments, comparing a map on a mobile phone with a traditional paper map. Beyond presenting the results, the conference offered an opportunity to establish new contacts and discuss future joint projects.
